Nextant Aerospace Appoints Former Phoenix TV War Correspondent For China Market

  • A new career for one of China’s best known journalists
  • Acumen of both U.S. and China helps forge business ties
  • Goal is to help China establish first-class general aviation industry

Shanghai, April 16, 2013 – Nextant Aerospace (“Nextant”), maker of the Nextant 400XT, the world’s first and only remanufactured business jet, has announced today the appointment of Wei Jing, former White House Correspondent for Phoenix Satellite TV, as Director for China Business Development. Ms. Wei will oversee Nextant’s introduction and expansion in the world’s fastest growing business jet market.

Wei Jing is best known for her ground-breaking news coverage of the September 11th terrorist attacks in the United States in 2001 and being China’s first and only female reporter to be imbedded with the U.S. military in Baghdad, Iraq, during the Iraq War in 2003. After leaving Phoenix TV, Wei Jing spent six years as Senior Consultant on China Affairs for major U.S. corporations facilitating their efforts to either invest in China or cooperate with Chinese companies.

“Wei Jing brings a wealth of knowledge of the Chinese market and a unique understanding of both American and Chinese corporations,” said Sean McGeough, President of Nextant Aerospace. “As Nextant’s ‘Ambassador to China’ so to speak, her reputation as a solid and trusted journalist on US-China relations and her intimate insight of the Chinese consumers reinforce Nextant’s uncompromising commitment of providing only the safest, best-quality products to our customers.”

Wei Jing has been following China’s general aviation market since she first attended the Zhuhai Airshow in 2008. Having traveled by air extensively and on multiple makes and models of business jets, Wei Jing has developed an interest in air travel and boasts first-hand knowledge of the strength and advantages of the Nextant 400XT.

“It’s faster, has a longer range, consumes less fuel and costs much less to acquire, operate and maintain than its competitors,” said Wei Jing. “For a market like China which is energy sensitive and still maturing in the business jet field, the 400XT delivers the best value in class, empowers more people to fly and enables more flights, all of which are essential for China to develop a true general aviation industry that can resemble the scale and quality of that of the United States.”

“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Nextant to carve out a new career for myself,” said Wei Jing, who is also returning to full-time work for the first time after the birth of her daughter in 2011. “Like the completely reborn Nextant 400XT, we are proving that with innovation, we can reinvent ourselves and launch a newer and better beginning.”

Ms. Wei’s responsibilities at Nextant will include business development in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, government relations, marketing strategies and positioning, brand management, promotion and implementation, and customer engagement.
